The busiest Tuesday in a long time (aka Lesley's Tuesday picks)

Steve Aoki comes to Ghostbar Dallas

There's tons of stuff going on tonight, with SXSW and Spring break lingering in the air. Here's a few highlights:

Steve Aoki, (left) DJ to the stars and owner of Dim Mak Records (which signed Bloc Party) is at Ghostbar. I'm digging his version of "Shake and Pop" with Kid Sister on his MySpace. His latest mix CD, Pillowface and his Airplane Chronicles, dropped in January.

There's supposedly no cover, but sometimes that's true and sometimes it isn't.... best bet is to show up early unless you're on the list. Doors at 8 p.m.

Blk Jks out of South Africa are at the Green Elephant, with PPT and The Party. There'll also be free Colt 45 (for real this time) from 9 to 10 p.m.

Fall Out's launching Disqo Disco Tuesdays, with the Syndey Confirm DJs and guests Pretty Vacant. Drink specials: $2 Vodka wells, $2 Shiners, $2 Laser Light shots. (Have no idea what that is, but it sounds freaky.) It's free all night.

Rumba Dallas hosts Electric City night at Barroco Lounge in the West End, with Chamo, Frankieboy, Inzo and B3 on the decks.

In Addison, the G Lounge continues its True Music Tuesdays, with hip-hop from M. Knight.

Club One in Deep Ellum closing this weekend

Club one in Deep Ellum, Dallas

So says Byron Lazlo, the promoter behind Thursday's Panoptikon event. (That's not him in the photo, by the way.) He says the owners didn't want to fight the city anymore -- a few months ago, the City Council denied the club a specific use permit, which it needed to stay in business. The council cited crime problems. (Owner Shelley Martinez has disputed that.)

"It's the end of a huge era," Lazlo says. "It's the end of the big nightclub era in Deep Ellum."

Club One opened on Main and Hall Streets in 1991. Its last day open is Saturday.

A St. Patty's day treat: Corned beef and.... cheese fries?

Just got off the phone with Feargal McKinney, the Irishman (he's really Irish) who owns the Idle Rich, the Dubliner, the Old Monk and Blackfriar Pub.

He says the bars -- except the Dubliner, which doesn't have a full kitchen -- will all be serving cheese fries with crumbled corned beef on top through the weekend and on Monday. How insanely yummy does that sound? The corned beef is slow-roasted for six hours, so it's "really tender and gorgeous," Feargal says.

They'll also have other St. Patty's Day menu items of Guinness beef stew, corned beef and cabbage (which is actually quite popular there St. Patrick's Day), a corned beef Reuben with Irish cheese, and fish n' chips. The latter dish is technically English, but apparently Irish people like to eat them after a few pints. And so do Dallasites.

I'll have more St. Patrick's Day event info in Thursday's paper, and here on the blog. Be sure to check back.
