Just found out about the coolest event. (And I apologize for my minimal posting lately, but the print product's keeping me busy.) Trainwreck, happening this Saturday at the Green Elephant, lets anyone who's ever wanted to be a DJ try it out. Well, not anyone, but two lucky audience members. No experience or equipment is required.
My girl Marissa has always wanted to be a DJ (if you know her, check her Facebook pic), so she is ecstatic about this. The event will also have 14 other inexperienced DJs playing short 15-minute sets.
Sean Sparks, Trainwreck's organizer, says last year people played anything from kid's songs to terror-core type stuff.
"The whole point is for people who don't know how to DJ or are bedroom DJs to sign up," he says. "It's not a showcase of musical skill. It's like karaoke for DJs."
