The guys and gals at Caven Enterprises gave a preview party of the soon-to-be-reincarnated Sue Ellen's last night. People should be impressed by what they've done in a few short months. Who would have thought that knocking out a wall or two would have opened the place up so much.
Full recap after the jump...
The place is pretty: color-changing LED decorations all around, glass everywhere (balcony above the dance floor especially), and a great live music space upstairs. The promise of separate spaces came true...downstairs had loud thumping dance music, but you could clearly hear the equally loud band upstairs without any distraction. And now the girls will have a place to overlook the gayborhood to whistle and hoot and holler at passersby below, which the boys have done for years over at JR's.
I can already tell you that the stools and tables on the small platforms next to the dance floor are going to the the hottest real estate in the club. Great place to scan the crowd.
And, if Dallas bars are ever (crossing fingers here) forced to go non-smoking, there's a New York-style solution in place: a fenced-in brick patio off the main bar area.
Remember: Opening night is a week from today, on April 17.
