Lesley's Cinco de Mayo picks

I'm really hoping it doesn't start pouring as soon as my margarita arrives.

TONIGHT

Mattito's has a mechanical bull, people. And live salsa and merengue music. Both of which are not Mexican, but they're Latin, so I guess that's good enough. Party runs 4 p.m. to midnight.

The Lonesome Losers are at the Double Wide. I hadn't heard these guys until checking out their MySpace yesterday, and I really like them. Their sound is conjunto-tinged and straight of out South Texas. (It's the accordion.) The DW's also doing $2 margaritas, and their normal Monday special of $2 wells and domestics.

Aw Shucks on Greenville and Lovers has a pound of crawfish for $3.95, $2 Tecate beer and $1.50 draft beer. Party goes on until 11 p.m.

It's still Cool Out Night at the Cavern. Drink specials, great DJs and an hour-long set of James Brown tunes.

Heard on the radio that the people from CASA 106.7 are going to be at OK Sports Bar on Gaston and Garland.

As for me.... I think I'm going to try out Cyclone Anaya's after work as Stop No. 1.

New bottle-service lounge alert: Aura in Uptown

Aura opened a week ago and takes the place of Babalu on McKinney Ave. I just got off the phone with one of the owners and he said Dirk Nowitzki and Devin Harris stopped by last weekend. (Lil Devin was apparently in town from New Jersey.) This weekend, the tables for Saturday are already sold out. Friday is half-sold, too.

It's a bottle-service driven place, so you can count on a list at the door.

"Absolutely," said Avi Adri, one of Aura's founding partners. "We're trying to create more of a members feel to it."

Adri says there isn't a cost associated with becoming a member. "You have to be the crowd that we want in there," he says.

There are one-, two- and three-bottle minimums, so if you aren't a sky-high baller, you can still get a bottle of champagne or something. Here's the DJ lineup they've got so far:

Tuesdays -- Willie Trimmer from the 12 Inch Pimps
Thursdays -- Longtime Dallas DJ Rob Vaughan
Friday -- Feezy
Saturday -- Feezy and Brad F.

"For 10 years I've been dreaming about that one perfect place," Adri says. "That's why it's called Aura. I want everyone who comes in there to have a good aura. No fights, no arguments. From the second you park the car to when you pay your tab, you've got nothing but one of the best treatments in the city. That's the whole idea behind the bar."

I'm checking it out this weekend. Will give ya a full report.
