New luxury lounge coming to the Joule -- and it has its own scent
Not many new openings get me excited these days (after covering clubs in Dallas for two-and-a-half years, all of them tend to look the same), but today I will tell you: I am eager, borderline anxious, to check out PM, a new lounge that's set to debut at the Joule Hotel this September.
Mr. Dallas told me about it this morning. He went to the bash announcing its arrival last night -- one I was invited to, but skipped for a boot camp class. Sigh. At least my thighs will be kick-ass.
Anyway: PM, a nightlife lounge (the word club is ghetto now), will be designed by local events guru Todd Fiscus. The new spot will be the first product of todd too, Fiscus' restaurant and nightlife development team.
The press materials call it "nightlife like no other," and if what the papers say is true, I have to agree. Here are some of its amenities:
The lounge will have a custom scent, created by Douglas Little, the Modern Alchemist and Edwardian Dandy. (I'm assuming this will be distributed via candles. Will it overpower smoke and heavily perfumed ladies?)
Uniforms will be designed by local design star Abi Ferrin. Shoes, Christian Laboutin. Jewelry by Douglas Little.
The signature beverage will be Dom Perignon served on calligraphed and perfumed handkerchiefs with scorched chocolate and caramel skulls. (FYI: Few clubs even decide on a signature cocktail even after they open. PM has it in the press materials. I like.)
As for what it looks like, the place will be "erotic meets exotic with a sense of humor," with bold metallics, luminescent crystals and deep, blood-red undertones.
There'll also be rock installations. Seriously. Geode, pyrite and crystal.
Okay...you seem to know the Dallas club/bar scene inside and out. Can you suggest a few places to bring a bachelorette party too? Although corny, it would need to be a place where we can bring in a stripper for her embarrassment. Thanks
Wow, a stripper. That'll be a night to remember. The Grapevine Bar probably wouldn't object. And they have cheap, strong drinks, including an awesome frozen Bellini. The crowd there would probably be cheering the stripper on. FYI, it's more of a dive than a chic club.
If you're looking for a "nice" place, most of them will probably nix the stripper idea. If you decide to go that route, and just go somewhere and dance, I'd recommend LIFT Lounge or the Slip Inn.

Count me in! I have never tried a scorched chocolate and caramel skull. :) Afterwards, we can check out their pool bar! Later, party girl.

This will be a nightclub for patrons of the upper eschelon of night life. That mean strippers, not so much...C'mon Dallas!
